This residency has been a transformative journey—a time to dive deeply into color as a language of emotion and self-reflection, while pushing my work beyond the boundaries of 2D. I’ve been exploring how colors interact, how they evoke complex feelings without words, and how they respond to light and shadow in ways that mirror our own emotional shifts. It’s about more than just color; it’s about vulnerability, self-destruction, self-hate, and self-love—the layered experiences that make us human.
Flowers hold a central role in my work. They are delicate symbols of beauty in decay, serving as reminders of time’s power to transform. Their presence highlights both the resilience and fleeting nature of life—a cycle of breaking down and coming back together. Even in decay, there’s a profound and undeniable beauty.
This residency also pushed me to move beyond the canvas and experiment with unfamiliar materials. I explored resin, clay, mold-making, beading, paper mâché, textiles, and even fashion. Each medium became part of the narrative, adding new textures, forms, and dimensions to my work. In the process, I feel like I’ve been transformed too. Working with these materials challenged me to rethink how I communicate emotion through art, expanding my practice in unexpected ways.
