What You Don’t See is my first body of work where I fully turn the gaze inward—painting myself not just as subject, but as study. These portraits mark the beginning of a practice I avoided for years: seeing myself. Each piece confronts fragmented identity, vulnerability, and the spaces between who I’ve been and who I’m becoming.
The collection explores the quiet violence of introspection—where silence whispers truths louder than words. Through the use of a muted yet intentional palette, I began discovering a color language for the broken: warm ochres, tired reds, bruised purples, the yellow of moments that tried to stay bright.
This work isn’t about visibility in the traditional sense, but about learning to witness the unseen—especially the parts I used to turn away from.
